Our Approach

We are able to provide a complimentary legal and adjusting service made up of our national coverage of experienced professional indemnity litigators, PI adjusters and investigators (Argent) and a claims handling team who benefit from having worked for many years directly with underwriters. 

We have a strong team ethic and our lawyers work closely with the claims professionals on each claim and with the underwriter when we need to understand fully the intent behind the policy language.  We also consider that the insured has an important role to play.  Our team is extremely approachable and highly experienced.  We aim to create a strong working relationship with each insured (provided no policy issues arise) with a view to demonstrating value to each insured, whilst doing our best to protect their reputation.

We believe that it is vital to consider how the underlying 'attritional cost' can be reduced by constantly improving work processes.  This includes the innovative use of IT. 

Our approach to any claim is to make an early assessment of its merits and then formulate a case plan designed to achieve an optimum resolution.  Although we give active consideration to alternative forms of dispute resolution throughout the lifetime of any claim, it is appreciated that there are some claims where it is appropriate that the issue should be taken to trial.

We have considerable experience of arbitrations and mediations and our teams include trained mediators. 

The professional indemnity group offers a variety of support services to both our insurer clients and their insureds.  These range from free advice lines, to training seminars led by a mixture of internal and external speakers and e-alerts on important decisions.  

For a number of our clients we provide analysis of the MI that we capture through our case management system, which can often assist in risk management.  This can be accessed onliine through a bespoke extranet.  We offer audit services to enable clients to benchmark performance both for our team and the client’s own team and we regularly second in our staff either for specific projects or for general support where a client has unmanageable workloads.
