Disease
The Plexus Law National Occupational Disease Team has extensive experience of the full range of disease claims. The depth of expertise in each of the Leeds, London, Manchester and Colchester offices ensures that experienced lawyers are able to offer clients tailored strategies for the progression and resolution of these often complex claims.
We have an extensive library of master files with liability and insurance cover information gathered over many years, which is continually updated and is used to ensure a consistent pro-active approach to disease claims handling, both pre and post litigation. This enables us to offer a unique service to authorities where there is an uninsured period of cover and/or a direct liability on the authority and which can ensure that the direct outlay on both damages and costs is minimised.
The team also has considerable expertise in handling multi-party and test case litigation. The team co-ordinated the defence of the Gulf War Syndrome Litigation and the Organophosphate group action. We took the lead and co-ordinated the successful defence of the recent landmark Nottingham & Derbyshire deafness test case litigation. We also had involvement in the pleural plaques test litigation and are acting in the asbestos ‘trigger’ test litigation that is to determine whether certain EL policies should respond to claims for mesothelioma.
Specialist areas include: asbestos, deafness, hand arm vibration syndrome/vibration white finger, respiratory & dermatitis, stress/harassment and work related upper limb disorder.
