In an increasingly regulated business environment, organisations and individuals cannot afford to ignore their health, safety and welfare obligations.  Serious breaches of health and safety can put a business at risk and leave Directors and Senior Managers facing large fines and/or custodial sentences following recent legislation including the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act and the Health & Safety (Offences) Act.

Plexus Law have a team of  health and safety lawyers who have extensive experience of advising organisations and individuals in all areas of health and safety and environmental legislation.  We have particular expertise in providing advice and assistance in matters involving the Police, the Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities, Environmental Enforcement agencies, Trading Standards Authorities, Office of Rail Regulation and the Traffic Commissioner.

Our team provides immediate advice following accidents at work or to members of the public.  We assist with internal accident investigations and provide guidance in liaison with the relevant authorities.  We advise on voluntary and compulsory interviews, disclosure and will provide representation at PACE interviews conducted by the Police and the enforcement agencies. 

We will work closely with you, your business and the regulatory authorities to avoid prosecution or enforcement action where possible.  In the event of a prosecution, we will represent you throughout the criminal process, liaising with the Prosecution, obtaining disclosure and providing practical advice on plea and tactics at the earliest opportunity.  We will prepare a full defence for trial in a Magistrates or Crown Court or put forward robust mitigation in the event of a guilty plea with a view to minimising penalties and fines. 

We provide high quality training in health and safety, risk management, accident investigation and attending interviews with the Police and regulatory authorities across the full spectrum from board level to the factory floor.  We offer accident prevention and risk management advice and work with clients to identify key risks within the business and to provide potential risk management support.  This includes workshop training, inter-active sessions, mock trial presentations as well as formal presentations including working closely with Directors and Senior Managers.  The work we do often includes reviewing all aspects of their business as well as cultural issues and how to influence workplace behaviour.
